Whether you just delivered a baby or found out that your child needs specialty care, Kids Plus is with you every step of the way — even when you’re receiving care somewhere else. We work closely with specialist doctors and hospitals in Pittsburgh and the surrounding communities to make sure your child gets the care they need, including a smooth transition of medical records and treatment plans once their hospital stay is over.
Congratulations on the birth of your new baby! When you’re at the hospital, you can expect your newborn to receive care from a pediatrician or a pediatric hospitalist (a primary care physician who works exclusively in a hospital environment).
However, you can see the pediatric provider of your choice after you leave the hospital. Keep in mind that seeing a pediatrician employed by the hospital post-delivery does not guarantee you better care. Instead, you can select a pediatric provider based on the services they offer, their availability, their proximity to your home, and other factors.

It’s scary for any parent to think about their child spending time in the hospital, but it does happen.
As a Kids Plus patient, we’ll work hard for you to make sure that you get access to the specialty care your child needs and deserves — whether that means working with your insurance company to get approval or finding local specialists who can help.
Even when your child receives care somewhere else, the Kids Plus team is still by your side, collaborating with your child’s specialty care team to keep all medical records updated. We can also help you transition your child’s care back to us when their treatment is complete.
