Outside dirt, leaves, and fresh air.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My father and my mother for their pursuits in medicine and being examples of hard work and persistence, especially my mother when it was rare for women to be physicians.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Family, Family, Family, gardening, fishing, carpentry/construction, taking care of animals, hiking, biking, volunteering.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
Prevention and education will help children and their parents be physically and mentally healthy. If they acheive these habits/skills/protection, their lives as adults will be stronger and better for them.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
Listening first to the patient and the parent, telling them what each step of the physical exam will be and flexing to their interests or calming their anxieties as best I can.
