Yes. Simply click ‘Pay Bill’ in the site navigation menu. You will need to know your account number and total balance due to complete the online form and make your payment.

Most services are covered, but we do recommend contacting your insurance company to verify your plan benefits. Does your plan require an assigned PCP (for example, an HMO)? If so, confirm that a Kids Plus provider is listed as your assigned PCP. You can also ask questions like:

• Are there any limits on preventative care that I need to know about? How does it differ from a sick visit?

• Do I have a co-payment or deductible?

• Do I have to pay more for services provided after hours?

Yes! As a patient of Kids Plus, your child can be seen at any of our three locations. If your child gets sick away from home and you’re closer to a different Kids Plus location, no problem. You can schedule an appointment at that office. We do recommend that you pick a home office where your child’s primary care provider (PCP) is based.

Walk-ins are available all day, every day during operating hours. If we are unable to see your child immediately, you will be scheduled for the next available appointment (which may be at a different location or the following morning if the visit is not a medical emergency). We encourage you to schedule an appointment ahead of time whenever possible.

Existing Kids Plus patients can schedule a well or sick visit online with exceptions below*. You must type in your child’s name exactly as it appears in our records to be able to access online scheduling — nicknames or alternate names will not work.

*Types of visits that cannot be scheduled online:

• Any visits for an infant under two months of age

• First evaluation for ADD or ADHD

• Pre-operative clearance

• Injuries (lacerations, broken bones, sprains, etc.)

• Respiratory distress

• Shot-only or lab-only

You can schedule a shot-only appointment by calling our office.

You can schedule well visits up to one year ahead of time.

We always strive to get you in and out of your appointments as quickly as possible. If it’s a particularly busy day with lots of sick visits or emergencies, you may have to wait longer. If you are not committed to any particular provider, you can request an appointment with the first available provider.

Yes, all sick children are seen on the same day if possible. Every attempt will be made to schedule you with your primary care provider (PCP) at your home office or another provider at that location. If there are no appointments available, you may be offered another location, an after-hours appointment, or a telehealth visit. 

If your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, dial 911. Otherwise, if your child is sick, always call your home office first. Our after-hours team will ask questions to determine the urgency of the problem and connect you with the appropriate resource. Many issues require only home care or a telehealth visit, with follow-up care as needed. Kids Plus is open on Saturday and Sunday mornings for sick visits only.

Our clinical advice team is available by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If your call is related to a medical problem that requires urgent treatment, you will be routed to a pediatric nurse who can answer your questions and connect you with the appropriate resource.

We recommend gathering the following information (writing it all down can help you remember!):

• Your child’s age

• What medical issue(s) you are concerned about

• Your child’s state of alertness (if you are concerned about lack of responsiveness, call 911 for emergency care)

• How long the problem has been going on

• If the problem has gotten worse

• Anything you have already done to treat your child’s illness

• Your child’s temperature

• Your child’s intake of fluids and output of urine and stool

Also have your contact phone number ready, so you can be called back if necessary.

Yes, all Kids Plus offices have separate sick and well waiting areas. Please follow the posted signs and sit in the appropriate section.

Our providers have community privileges at most of Pittsburgh’s major hospitals. Visit our hospital affiliations page for more information.

If your child is sick and admitted to a hospital where our providers have been granted privileges, they will be visited by an affiliated hospitalist who will keep your Kids Plus provider informed about your child’s condition. A post-hospital visit with your provider is usually scheduled after your child is discharged. Please remember to bring their discharge summary to this follow-up visit.

Unless your child is sick, children over age 3 are generally seen once a year for their annual check-up. An easy way to remember is to always schedule a well visit around their birthday.

• During your child’s first year of life, well visits are scheduled 3 days after birth and at 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months.

• During your child’s second year, well visits are scheduled for 15 months, 18 months, and 24 months.

• During your child’s third year, well visits are scheduled at 30 months and 36 months.

For continuity of care, we do encourage you to schedule well visits with your child’s primary care provider (PCP). For same-day sick appointments and walk-in visits, we cannot guarantee that your PCP will be available that day.

A well-child visit (also called a preventive or annual physical exam) is a routine appointment focused on your child’s overall health and development. It typically includes a review of your child’s medical, family, and social history; age-appropriate screenings and immunizations; developmental assessments; physical examination; and preventive health counseling.

A Combined Care visit happens when your child’s clinician addresses and completes more than one type of care during the same appointment. This may include completing a well-child visit during a sick visit, if your child is due, or addressing additional medical concerns during a scheduled well-child visit. Combined Care visits allow families to take care of everything in one visit rather than scheduling a return appointment.

Well-child visits are considered preventive care and are typically covered by insurance at no cost to you. However, when additional concerns or conditions are evaluated and managed during the same visit, insurance plans may apply additional copays, deductibles, or coinsurance based on the patient’s specific benefits. This billing reflects the additional time, medical decision-making, and complexity involved in addressing concerns beyond the preventive exam.

Preventive services typically covered as part of a well-child visit include: a conversation about your child’s medical history (including social and family history), height and weight screening, age-appropriate immunizations (based on your plan’s coverage), developmental and behavioral screenings, routine physical examination, and preventive health counseling such as nutrition and safety guidance.

Additional billing may apply when your child’s clinician evaluates or manages concerns beyond the preventive exam, such as new symptoms (fever, cough, rash, ear pain), chronic or ongoing conditions (asthma, allergies, ADHD), medication concerns or prescription refills, behavioral or mental health evaluations, and certain specialized screenings (autism evaluations, adolescent depression screenings, and similar) that fall outside your plan’s preventive coverage.

Most insurance plans cover the preventive portion of a well-child visit at no cost. However, coverage for additional services to address conditions or concerns varies by plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to understand your specific benefits, including any copays, deductibles, or coinsurance that may apply to non-preventive services.

Absolutely. If you prefer to keep your visit focused on only what your child was initially scheduled for, you can let your child’s clinician know. Any additional care can be scheduled as a separate return appointment. However, many families find it more convenient to address everything in one visit rather than making an additional trip to the office. Your clinician will always prioritize your child’s health and safety, so if a concern requires immediate attention, they will discuss this with you.

Our team can help explain the services billed, assist with insurance questions, and work with you on any concerns. You can also contact your insurance provider directly for details on your specific plan’s coverage.

Sometimes additional services that were already documented and provided during your child’s visit are identified through a post-visit review and billed accordingly.  

As documentation is finalized and reviewed, claims may be updated to ensure services provided during the visit are accurately reflected and submitted to the patient’s insurance plan. If you have questions about a specific charge, please contact our billing team.

A telehealth visit is a virtual visit with a Kids Plus provider. Based on certain qualifying conditions, you may be able to speak with a provider online from the comfort of home or wherever you are.

We offer telehealth visits every weekday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Telehealth visits are available for sick appointments, mental health visits, re-checks, and more. Ask your Kids Plus provider for more details.

Yes, our providers treat many minor illnesses, injuries, and other health concerns virtually. We start by asking specific questions and reviewing your child’s medical history, then we use the video connection as a tool to observe your child. In many cases, this is all we need to make a diagnosis and suggest a treatment plan. If necessary, we can also prescribe medication(s).

Should your child need an in-person visit for any reason, we will help you schedule one. It’s our job to make sure your child gets a complete and comprehensive evaluation.

It’s best to conduct the visit in a private, quiet, and well-lit part of your home with a stable internet connection. Turn off the TV and put pets in another room to minimize any distractions. For safety and to ensure the best quality of care, you should never conduct a telehealth visit in a moving vehicle.

You can prepare just like you would for an in-office visit by jotting down any questions or concerns ahead of time. We recommend logging on a few minutes early to sort out any technical issues. Your child (the patient) must be present for the visit. Please also have your child’s medication list and any other pertinent information nearby.

Yes, you’ll receive both a text message and an email confirming your child’s appointment details. These reminders help ensure you have everything you need beforehand, including the date, time, and instructions for joining the telehealth visit.

Existing Kids Plus patients do not have to pay any fees up front. Your insurance company will be billed first, then you are responsible for any portion the insurance company does not cover. For self-pay patients, a telehealth visit costs $59.

If your child has not been seen yet for the condition in question, you will need to schedule an appointment at our office first. If you need a referral for a follow-up visit for a condition that we have already seen your child for, you can make your request on the patient portal. Our office will contact you when the referral is complete, typically within 5-7 business days.

Call your Kids Plus office or use the patient portal to request your prescription refill(s) and tell us your pharmacy phone number.

Kids Plus parents and other parties can use the patient portal or RecordQuest to request the medical records you need. You can also request paper copies from our office. Please visit our medical records page for detailed instructions. Some medical records are available instantly on the patient portal, while other requests may take anywhere from 24-48 hours or more.

Contact the physician’s office that you are transferring from and ask for the records to be released to your Kids Plus office. (P.S. We’re glad you’re here!)

There are almost too many to count! You can schedule and manage appointments, access your child’s medical records, request prescription refills, pay your bill, and so much more.

You’ll receive an email from Kids Plus with a username and password to access the portal from any web browser or the healow™ app. (If you don’t see it, please check your spam folder.) You can customize your password after your initial login.

Next, check your inbox for your confirmation email. (Again, if you don’t see it, please check your spam folder.) In your confirmation email, click on “Set up Portal Account” and follow the steps.

Yes! All information stored on the patient portal is secure. You’re also protected by the username and password/PIN number of your choice as well as industry-standard SSL encryption.

To be able to see every patient in your family account, they must be listed under the same guarantor. To request this change, please email portal.east@pediatricassociates.com.

Nope. Both the patient portal and the healow™ app are free, so you always have easy access to your child’s medical records and can stay informed about their care.

1. In the “Appointments” section, click “New Appointment.”

2. Select the visit reason and preferred location.

3. You’ll see a list of providers in your selected location, as well as the next available appointment.

4. Select the date and time you prefer and add your appointment details.

5. A 4-digit verification code will be sent to the phone number listed on your account.

6. Enter the code and then click “Verify and Book.”

7. Your appointment details will now be in the “Dashboard” section of the portal.

In the ‘’Medical Records” section, click ‘’Lab Diagnostic Report.’’ You’ll also have the option to print your child’s medical records in this section.

In the ‘’Medical Records” section, click “Immunization History.” You’ll also have the option to print your child’s medical records in this section.

In the “Messages” section, click “Refill Requests” and you will see a list of your child’s current medications. Select the medication(s) you need and click “Refill Request.” If no refills are available, you can schedule an appointment in the “Appointments” section.

A proxy account allows a designated individual to access and manage another person's health information. This type of account is typically used by parents to access their child’s medical records.

In adherence with the Cures Act, parents or legal guardians will receive login credentials that allow them to access information for multiple children with a single login.
