What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
As a Mom of two young girls, who couldn't love Bluey! It's the perfect cartoon for young families - short, engaging, full of lessons, and makes the parents laugh because it's so accurate!
What is your favorite children's book?
My favorite book as a child was the Harry Potter series. It was released about the time I was in middle school so I could really relate to the characters and the magic was so cool!
What was your favorite childhood toy?
I loved Geosafari world! I could play that thing for hours. It's the only reason I know where Prince Edward Island is!
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My greatest inspiration is my Dad. He started his own company without a college degree and showed me that hard work and ambition can payoff.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love cooking, visiting new restaurants (Pittsburgh has so many!), and spending time with my two amazing girls and husband.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I was initially attracted to pediatrics because of kids’ candid nature and their ability to put life into perspective. Now, my areas of focus are young adult and adolescent care (especially young women’s health and contraception), breastfeeding support, and infant healthy eating and nutrition.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I really enjoy educating families. I want parents and patients to feel confident in the choices they make with their children's healthcare and understanding their medical conditions. I am always happy to explain things further, whether it is how a disease works, treatments, or recommendations for vaccines, in language they can understand.
