Q&A with Brooke
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
My favorite animated movie is Spirit.
What is your favorite children's book?
My favorite children's book is goodnight moon- it is a very soothing, rhythmic book that is very soulful/comforting. To this day, my family and I always say "I love you to the moon and back."
What was your favorite childhood toy?
American Girl Doll Horses. I have been obsessed with horses since childhood. I still ride and own horses now, just in real life instead of toys!
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My greatest inspiration is my brother, Shawn! He is autistic and had spinal reconstructive surgery. His positive view on life is truly inspiring, despite all of the hardships he has (and continues) to overcome.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I manage a horse farm! I still ride and compete my horse (Bruno) year round. I also enjoy fostering animals (dogs, cats) and fishing.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
As above, my brother inspired me to work in medicine to see how his medical team was able to support him through very hard times. Subsequently- my mother inspired me to work in Pediatrics, she is still a nurse here today as well!
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I feel like my unique qualities that help me build a positive rapport is being able to relate and talk to my patients like they are my friends/family (because they are!!). It certainly helps that I have 4 younger siblings who keep me up to date with all the slang/lingo of teenagers nowadays, haha!
